Since 1997, Tom Moran has been creating images inspired by the movements of crowds. For several years before September 11, his work had been primarily abstractions of fire rescue, see attached article:

“Cooper alum’s series takes a new meaning”

He has since explored more abstract areas within the same theme, leading up to the current series of paintings.

Tom has been living and working in New York since receiving a B.F.A. degree from the Cooper Union in 1993. He studied painting in Cortona, Italy and received the Ethel Cram Memorial Prize for Excellence in Art . He was a resident at the Blue Mountain Center and a colonist at the MacDowell Colony, and also took part in the Bronx Museum’s Artist in the Marketplace Program. Tom's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the US.
